Bensalem Community Affairs
Bensalem Community Affairs encompasses several key areas, in addition to serving as a clearinghouse for functions not specifically assigned to other departments. Planning and managing township events to include, Bensalem's signature event, "Bensalem Fall Festival, Celebrate Community Pride Day", the first Saturday each October. The department consists of two personnel: Dave Fiedler, Manager and Dawn Davis, Public Relations/Event Coordinator.
The Community Affairs Department is responsible for supplying information to the public, coordinating public events, creating publications, website maintenance, just to name of few. It involves supplying information that is factual, interesting and newsworthy to the media (radio, newspapers, newsletters, etc.) We are also responsible for public relations, which is a broader task, because it involves publicity, but it also means promotion, public affairs, advertising and opinion making as well. We are always learning how to put our best foot forward when presenting information to the public.
The Township continues its multi year partnership with Commerce Bank, which will aid in presenting bigger and better concerts to the public either free of charge or at nominal ticket prices when compared with commercial venues. The “BPAC” (Bensalem Performing Arts Center) as it was affectionately known during its inaugural season has made a mainstay reputation as Bucks County’s entertainment destination.
A major responsibility of the Community Affairs Department revolves around managing the beautiful amphitheater in the Bensalem Central Park, located within the Municipal Complex.
