Q. When does the Township pick up my trash?
A. Trash collection is done through private haulers in Bensalem Township; there is no municipal pick-up. Resident's must hire a private contractor to pick up trash. Phone numbers can be obtained from the Public Work Departments. Click here for a list of local trash haulers.
Q. When does the street sweeper sweep the streets?
A. The sweeper runs seasonally. The season commences in May and continues through early October. Each neighborhood in Bensalem is scheduled to be swept twice per season. The sweeper schedule is advertised on Bensalem Government Channel 22 (BCT22). The street sweeper is not designed to pick up leaves or other debris.
Q. When does leaf collection take place?
A. Leaves and other yard waste is picked up by private haulers working directly for residents. Yard waste is picked up on recycling days. Leaves and other yard waste must be bagged in order for them to be taken away. Contact your hauler directly to find out what requirements must be met.
Q. How do I dispose of paint, old kerosene, and pesticides?
A. Contact the Public Works Department at 215-633-3980 for a list of dates for the Household Hazardous Waste Collection Program. Typically there are 4 drop-offs per year in Bucks County. Dates and locations do change yearly. There is no cost to the residents. Information on tires, antifreeze and motor oil can be obtained at the Public Works Department.
Q. There is a broken water main on my street, what do I do?
A. Contact Aqua America at 877-987-2782. Bensalem Township sold the water system to AQUA AMERICA IN AUGUST OF 1999.
Q. My toilets are backing up, what do I do?
A. Contact the Bucks County Water and Sewer Authority at 1-800-222-2068 during normal working hours or 215-343-3946 for after hour calls. The Bensalem Sewer Department was sold in September of 1999.
